Wish You Were Here by Juliabohemian Wish You Were Here by Juliabohemian
Weíre just two lost souls, swimming in a fish bowl, year after year...

Severus Snape and Lily Evans (Potter) as fish, in a bowl, inspired by The Half Blood Prince, in which Professor Slughorn shares with Harry that his mother gifted him a fish, years ago, when she was a student.

Yeah I know itís weird. But so am I. And when I get an idea, I have to draw it. Freehanded in Photoshop at the expense of my wrist muscles.

Just for the record I donít ship Snape and Lily per se, unless it's during their school days. But itís obvious that they had a very special connection. So really thatís all this is about. And I thought it would be cute. Donít read any more into it than that.

So unique idea, besides very cute and warmhearted.

I love fishes, had these kind of gold fishes (both black and golden ones, even white with red marks) years ago, this reminds me about them. :)

Very beautiful drawing, tells much about their lost friendship and connection they had, should this be looked more from Snape's point of view (Because he lived, he could wish she were still there..) or both from his and her?

I just love it, very beautiful pic!

Thank you

I don’t know about POV really. I just kind of mixed my symbolism a bit. Snape was the one who couldn’t let her go. So even though it was Slughorn who had the fish, it would be fitting for Snape to end up in the bowl with her. I really didn’t consider it that deeply past thinking it might be kind of cute. And I told my kids the idea and they dictated how they thought it should look -like Snape having a tie instead of a scarf and there being a mini-Hogwart’s at the bottom of the bowl.

This is the kind of art I love. I like the story behind this drawing. Technically superb: the colouring of the fishes is delightful ♥
I thank you for sharing your art and your thoughts.

What a cool idea! What was that fish's name in the HBP movie? Francis, was it? Anyway, this is just adorable. Life at Hogwarts does, at times, seem open to the same kind of scrutiny that fish in a bowl face, doesn't it? It's like a microcosm of the WW, especially as things like House affiliations and rivalries appear to last a lifetime.

I believe the fish’s name was Francis…thank you. Yes I find the manner in which the kids segregate themselves into houses to be almost damaging. Thanks.

Thanks so much. I do love that song. Although it isn’t really a love song. It was written to express the band’s sentiments about the mental decline of their former member Syd Barrett. But it still fits.

Yeah, I've been told that. But one of the awesome things about Pink Floyd is how many interpretations of their songs you can make. They always fit, hehe.

Oh, it was Francis. :D Thanks. I was too busy wondering about Slughorn's slightly creepy love for Lily to pay much attention to that part...I think he just really loved her as a student, and just as a sweet girl in general, but it came off as a creeper vibe, if you ask me. But then again, everyone loved Lily.

Slughorn was creepy. But I think he was supposed to be. He was very concerned about status and appearance and viewed students as prizes to be won and added to his collection. I enjoyed Jim Broadbent in the role.
